Men’s Dive Watch

A quality men’s dive watch cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, so it is important to pick the right one for your intended use.  If you just intend to wear it as fashion, then the waterproof rating and other features don’t matter.

Here are some tips on how to buy a men’s dive watch and some reviews on top models.

Men’s Dive Watch Buying Guide

Depth Rating

When buying a men’s dive watch your first consideration should be the waterproof rating.  Most people recommend a rating of up to 200 meter/660 feet.  While some watches with ratings of up to 100 meters might work just fine for your skill level, having that extra margin of safety is recommended.

Bezel

A bezel is a rotating dial on the face that you can set to help you keep track of how long you have been under water.  These should only turn in the counter clockwise direction for safety purposes.  This dial should also be bright and easy to read.

Corrosion Resistance

Make sure your watch is make out of a corrosion resistant material like titanium or stainless steel, or at least coated in a protective plastic to prolong the life of the watch and to keep it working longer.

Simple Face

Some watches have so many things going on with their face that it can sometimes be confusing to read.  A simple dive watch that only gives you what you need to know in bright luminous display is best.

Advanced Features

Temperature: If you are diving in colder regions, having a temperature setting on your watch is an added safety measure

Compass:  Diving in caves or other enclosed areas can cause you to lose your sense of direction.  Having a compass on your diving watch is another safety measure.

Ascent alarm:  Most expensive watches will alert you if you are rising too fast.  This helps to prevent decompression sickness.
